Stimami Sterilisami Foundation is thrilled to kick off 2025 with incredible news: a generous donation of Afl. 5,000 from the Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association (AHATA). Led by CEO & President Tisa Lasorte, and supported by the esteemed tourism leaders and members of AHATA, this contribution is more than just financial; it is an important and symbolic recognition of our foundation's dire efforts to control the stray animal population through our national spay and neuter program.

The Dire Need for Action
Stray animals are more than just a visual concern; they represent a significant public health and safety risk, affecting everyone in our community and the experience of every visitor to our beautiful island. The reproduction rates of unsterilized dogs and cats are alarmingly high—with a single female dog and her offspring capable of producing 67,000 puppies, and a cat up to 11,606,077 kittens, in just six years. By addressing this reproductive potential directly through spaying and neutering, we significantly reduce the number of animals suffering in the streets, thereby enhancing both our vibrant community and the tourism landscape of Aruba.

The Impact of Our Work
Since Stimami Sterilisami's inception in 2016, we've funded and subsidized over 40,000 sterilizations. This has not only cut down the potential number of stray animals but also mitigated future suffering considerably. Beyond controlling their population, spaying and neutering bring extensive health benefits to pets, reducing their risk of developing certain types of cancers and infections and generally leading to longer, healthier lives.
Expanding Our Reach
Thanks to AHATA’s support, we are able to continue our vital work. Each donation allows us to expand our reach by offering subsidized sterilization services, which now cover 100% of the sterilization fees for rescue organizations and 50% for individual pet owners, free microchipping, and educational programs on responsible pet ownership. These efforts are essential for maintaining public safety, preventing the spread of disease, and ensuring a safe and caring environment for our animals.
A Word from Our President, Ewald Biemans
"We are profoundly grateful for AHATA’s support, which not only helps protect countless animals but also safeguards the reputation of Aruba as a premier holiday destination,” said Ewald Biemans. “Together, we are making a significant impact, ensuring Aruba remains a safe, healthy place for everyone."
