Stimami Sterilisami is excited to announce the expansion of its national spay and neuter program through new partnerships with PawsUni and Animal Welfare Alliance Aruba (AWAA). Building on our ongoing subsidy program, which makes spaying and neutering more affordable for pet owners and rescue organizations, these collaborations will extend our reach further by offering free sterilization services to pet owners and barrios of low-income areas. Our goal is to ensure that every pet owner can access these essential services, regardless of their financial situation.
PawsUni Campaign's Impact in Madiki
The PawsUni campaign is a remarkable collective effort of 12 foundations including Stimami Sterilisami Foundation, Luna Foundation Aruba Inc., One Love Foundation Inc., Locks4paws Animal Relief Foundation Aruba, Nine Lives Aruba Foundation, Snoop Doggy Foundation, New Life for Paws Foundation, Nisi Canis Heart Of Gold Foundation, Aruba Animal Shelter, Annie's Faith Foundation, The Dog House Project, and Stima Mi Mascota, and VSH Veterinary Specialty Hospital as the voluntary vet clinic. Thanks to the organizational efforts of these dedicated foundations, the veterinarians of VSH, and all of their collective volunteers, 70 dogs and cats were spayed and neutered completely free of charge for the residents of Madiki.Â
Stimami Sterilisami contributed Afl. 53,000 florins to cover medical costs and tools and is covering the sterilization fee for each pet during the PawsUni sterilization drives. This ensures the procedures are entirely free for low-income pet owners in Madiki and upcoming barrios where owners cannot afford the current sterilization fees, even with Stimami Sterilisami’s subsidy.Â
Throughout the month of August, PawsUni and Stimami Sterilisami will continue to provide free spay and neuter services for residents of Madiki's social housing at Centro di Bario Playa Pabou.Â
AWAA Continues its Successful Sterilization Initiatives for Different Barrios
Stimami Sterilisami is also proud to announce its partnership with the Animal Welfare Alliance Aruba (AWAA), a coalition of three major foundations: Crijojo Trappers Aruba, Sgt Pepper’s Friends, and United Dogs Aruba. AWAA operates a no-cost spay and neuter clinic that provides free services to low-income families' pets and runs community awareness and education projects across the island.
Operating year-round, the clinic is staffed entirely by dedicated volunteers and funded solely through donations. This strategic initiative allows the clinic to maintain a central location, ensuring continuity and maximizing cost efficiency. The collaboration between Stimami Sterilisami and AWAA is particularly beneficial because the clinic can spay and neuter dogs and cats for just Afl. 25. The volunteer-based, donation-funded model makes it affordable, accessible, and cost-effective for Stimami Sterilisami to support AWAA’s Donate-A-Spay Program.
In just four days in July, with the help of a single veterinarian, the clinic successfully spayed and neutered 104 cats and dogs. This week, and in the coming weeks, the clinic is focusing on spaying and neutering ‘code red animals’—stray or owned female dogs and cats that are pregnant or in heat. Spaying and neutering these animals is crucial to preventing the birth of more stray animals, reducing strain on community resources, and minimizing the suffering of animals both at home and on the streets. Throughout August, AWAA will continue to concentrate its efforts on Code Red cases across the island, in addition to focusing on the communities of Seroe Patrishi and Cura Cabai.
From now until February 2025, the clinic will host five large high-volume campaigns, each featuring three medical teams and two weeks dedicated specifically to cats. In addition to these campaigns, AWAA will launch a continuous program starting in September and October, which Stimami Sterilisami will support.
Residents of Cura Cabai and the neighborhoods of Seroe Patrishi/Cura Cabai Zuid are encouraged to contact AWAA for assistance with sterilizing their pets. To apply for these services, please send an email to Help@awa-aruba.org or a WhatsApp message to +297 5929777 with the following information:

Stimami Sterilisami's National Spay and Neuter Program Continues
Stimami Sterilisami has spayed and neutered over 37,000 dogs and cats since 2016. Our partnerships with PawsUni and AWAA are a powerful extension of our longstanding national spay and neuter subsidy program. This program, available to all pet owners and rescue organizations at participating vet clinic, VSH Veterinary Specialty Clinic in Ponton, is at the heart of our mission to make spay and neuter services both affordable and accessible to everyone across the island.
We are driven by the belief that every animal deserves a chance at a better life, free from the hardships of overpopulation, abandonment and illnesses. By supporting initiatives that specifically target those who cannot afford sterilization fees, even with our existing subsidies, we are actively working towards a future where every pet can thrive in a loving home. Our commitment to dedicating a portion of our funds to these collaborative efforts underscores our mission to significantly reduce the number of stray animals on the island.
A special thank you goes out to our generous donors, including Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort, the Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA), the Tourism Product Enhancement Fund (TPEF), Ewald Biemans, One Love Foundation, Setar N.V., Aruba Bank N.V., Henriquez Croes & Co., Spazio Realty, all contributors during the Stimami Sterilisami Summer Sidewalk Sales and individual anonymous donors.
